Engine 8 is proud to announce the publication of Gatherings: Recipes from Montana’s Mustang Kitchen by Livingston chef and café owner Carole Sullivan. The new cookbook reflects Carole’s unique passion for food and her delight in sharing her talent. With the help of her business partner and husband, Dan, Carole has gained quite a following among foodies in Southwest Montana over the years. It has been a pleasure for the Engine 8 creative team to help Carole showcase her work through this project.
The design and content organization of the cookbook centers around Carole’s distinct catering events and the delectable menus she crafted for each occasion. From a cowboy branding celebration to a ladies’ garden party on the banks of the Yellowstone River, Gatherings weaves snapshots of Montana with Carole’s delightful recipes.
The cookbook design project gave Engine 8 the opportunity to work closely with Carole to bring her vision to life. We also enjoyed collaborating with an all-star team of creative professionals. Photographer Lynn Donaldson traveled across Montana with Carole to capture the tastes and essence of Carole’s cooking, the emphatic joy of her many catering clients, and the breathtaking landscape within which Carole serves her creations. Seabring Davis, Editor-in-Chief at the Big Sky Journal, worked closely with Carole and the design team — Seabring’s dedication and precision made the entire editorial process flow smoothly. Our own designer Sarah Cauble also contributed greatly to the layout and production of the cookbook!
Gatherings is a hallmark project for Engine 8. Over the past five years, we’ve had the pleasure of working with Carole to develop her brand identity, website, email marketing, print material, and most recently the exterior signage at her new café on Main Street in Livingston.
